- 3 September 1939: Britain, France, New Zealand and Australia declare war on Germany
They declared war on Germany because two days before Germany bombed cities and towns causing thousands of people to be killed and injured in Poland. They gave the Germans a chance to get out of Poland but they didn't listen so this started World War Two.
- 9 April 1940: Germany invades Denmark and Norway
German warships entered the main ports in Norway moving thousands of troops in to occupy Norway. Germany wanted to get control of Norway because they have a large coastline that would be very important in a battle for control of the North Sea.
In Denmark the King didn't think his army could beat the Germans so he chose to surrender straight away. So now Germany had control of Poland, Denmark and Norway.

ReplyDeleteYou have captured this task really well including some really well picked images to include on your blog post.
This was a very uncertain time in the world and people in many countries would have felt very uneasy. People going to War and dying constantly.
How do you think the people of NZ felt when they knew that we declared war on Germany? It must of been very fearful for both men and women involved and being left behind.
Where did you locate the news paper images from - I would love it if you could add the link in the comments below as its really effective to your blog post and really grabs my attention to read the post.

Hello Clare,
DeleteThanks for the comment Clare. I haven't learnt this topic at school yet,but i would like to learn it because i like learning new things. I think they felt when they were declared to Germany sad because they might die, nervous because they don't know what is going to happen and proud to fight for there country. Also thanks for commenting on my blog Clare.
