On your blog tell us what you think about the fact that women were not allowed to vote in Saudi Arabia until 2015. Is it fair? Why or why not?

I think that it is unfair that women in Saudi Arabia were not allowed to vote until 2015 because, and women should be treated the same,Women can do what men can do.

  1. Hi Toe’umu,

Thank you for sharing your opinion on the issue of voting for women in Saudi Arabia. I love how you boldly exclaimed that women can do anything men can, like you, I believe in equal rights for everybody. Had you thought about why it has taken so long for Saudi Arabia to allow women to vote? Maybe you could do a little research about their country to find out.

This reminds me of learning about Kate Sheppard who helped women receive the right to vote in 1893 (124 years ago!). You might recognise her face if you’ve ever seen a New Zealand ten dollar note. I can only imagine what it would be like today if women didn’t have the right to vote, though I know for certain we wouldn’t have had three female prime ministers. What do you think?

    Toe feiloa’i fo’i,

    Cia.

    1. Ki Ora Cia,

Thanks for the comment Cia. I also think that if women had the right to vote we would have three prime ministers by now or even today. Also thanks again for the comment.
